Jesse Zubot, of Britannia Beach, B.C., is a founding member of the acoustic-roots ensemble Zubot & Dawson. Their last recording was produced by Lee Townsend (Bill Frisell, John Scofield) and released on True North Records in Canada. Zubot is also a member of The Great Uncles of the Revolution which includes well-known Toronto bassist Andrew Downing and jazz trumpeter Kevin Turcotte. Both of these recording acts are Juno Award winners. Zubot is also a member and producer for Juno Award winning post-everything band, Fond of Tigers. Jesse is heavily involved in the world of creative & improvised music and has performed and recorded with the likes of François Houle, Eugene Chadbourne, Evan Parker, Secret Mommy, Mats Gustafsson, Dave Douglas, Peggy Lee, Matthew Bourne, Orkestra Rova, Dylan van der Schyff, Tony Wilson, Fred Frith, Eyvind Kang, Dylan van der Schyff, Nels Cline, Humcrush, David Tronzo, Joe Fonda, Gerry Hemingway, Henry Kaiser and many others. Currently Jesse spends time touring with renowned Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq and drummer Jean Martin. They have a live recording coming out in 2011 on VICTO Records, recorded at the Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville (in 2010). Jesse has also worked with many contemporary/commercial based artists including Hawksley Workman, Veda Hille, Ndidi Onukwulu, Amy Millan, Kelly Joe Phelps, Alpha Yaya Diallo, Mother Mother, Dan Mangan, The Be Good Tanyas and Stars. JZ runs the critically acclaimed creative music label DRIP AUDIO out of Britannia Beach, BC. The label now has 31 releases under it's belt. Jesse has composed music for The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Nova Scotia and modern dancers/choreographers Benoît Lachambre, Su-Feh Lee, Joe Laughlin, Susan Elliot & Chick Snipper. Jesse was named 'Violinist of the Year' at Canada's National Jazz Awards in 2003, 2008 & 2009 and won the 'Multimedia' award for his work on the score for Tungijuq (w/ Tanya Tagaq) at the 2010 Western Canadian Music Awards.
