Tom
Coyne quickly rose through the mastering ranks and began to earn a reputation
around town for knowing how to get the most and best sound onto the record's
grooves. He went on to dominate mastering for Dance and R&B throughout the
1980s. In 1989 Tom moved to the Hit Factory. It was there that he established
himself as a Hip-Hop and R&B expert at a time when those genres were
enjoying explosive sales. In 1994 Tom moved to Sterling Sound to spearhead its
expansion into R&B/Hip-Hop/Urban Music. In early 1998 Tom, along with
colleagues Ted Jensen, Greg Calbi and Murat Aktar, bought Sterling Sound from
its founder, Lee Hulko. Tom continues to build his reputation as one of the
foremost R&B and Pop mastering engineers. A few of his credits include Adele,
Pink, Beyonce, Usher, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Tribe Called Quest,
Destiny's Child, Jordan Sparks, Elliot Yamin, Wonder Girls and Laura Izibor.
